Syo in Wonderland- Chapter 4

How D'ye Do and Shake Hands

"Could someone please explain to me how I established only one rule and you guys already broke it?" Syo questioned, annoyed, as his hands were being occupied by one of each of his companions' hands, "Oh, sorry, I forgot about it." Cecil said, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment, "It's just holding hands makes this adventure more fun." Natsuki replied. Syo huffed a sigh, "I don't care if 'it's fun,' or 'you forgot,' I don't want to hold hands with you guys!" he cried, managing to esape from the clutches of his friends.

Natsuki giggled, "Oh, come on, Syo-chan, it's not that bad." he insisted, but Syo pouted and folded his arms, "Syo, wearing such a sour expression will ruin your cute face." Cecil teased, his rendition of the Cheshire Cat's grin coming to his face. The petite blonde flushed, "I'm not cute, I'm manly, dammit!" he exclaimed, "You don't look manly to me." Cecil countered, "And of course you're cute, Syo-chan." Natsuki added.

Syo fumed, "I'm not!!", "Now that's not very lady-like." an unfamiliar, yet at the same time, familiar voice answered. The three turned to where they had heard the voice, to find two people instead of one; the two young men before them were dressed uncharacteristically as how the traveling company visualizes them. The two tall young men were donned in overall suits with the pant legs only extended to their knees, short sleeved striped shirts underneath, striped knee high socks, and propeller hats; their outfits only differing in color, the boy with dark blue hair had bark blue stripes, hat, and overalls, likewise with the other, except with orange.

The two newcomers had serious expressions on their faces, the one in orange having a ghost of a grin, but still serious nonetheless; their expressions were almost challenging the party, to see if they would laugh or something similar. A challenge they easily failed.

"Ren, Hijirikawa! Why a-are you two dressed like that?!" Syo cackled,  eyes watering, "My stomach hurts!" Cecil laughed, holding his gut, "I-I think th-they're the Tweedles!" Natsuki said in between chuckles. "Yes, we are tragically. Masato replied, flushing as he looked at his outfit, "Well, which one is Tweedle Dee, and who's Tweedle Dum?" Syo asked, "We don't talk about that." Ren said, "Just refer to us as the Tweedles." Masato added.

Cecil sweatdropped, "Well, moving along, we ran into the sempai a while back, they said you might be able to help Syo.", "Oh, and what does Ochibi-chan need help with?" Ren asked. "I'm trying to find a way home, and the sempai said you guys may have the ability to get me home." Syo explained, "Well, I don't think we're able to do anything like that." Masato replied, "Sorry, Ochibi-chan." Ren added, patting Syo's head. "It's okay, I wasn't really expecting anything from it, but there's no harm in asking." Syo replied.

"Well, we should keep going, see if we can find anyone who could help." Natsuki said, and the three turned to head off, "Wait!" Masato called, making the three turn back. "Yeah?" Cecil answered, "We can do something for you, Ochibi-chan, to make up for not being able to help." Ren said, "Like what?" Syo pondered, "We can teach you how to be a proper lady." Ren said, winking.

The blonde blushed, "I'm not a girl!!!" he cried, "Oh, humor us, with you dressed like that, it'd be best if you acted accordingly." Masato remarked, "Oh fine."

The three met in the middle of the path, the two taller boys bowed, Syo curtsied in response after seeing Masato shake his head when he bowed, the two took the smaller's hands as music began playing from nowhere once more and the Tweedles began to sing.


"Ren- When first you meet a gentlemen of caliber and class,
Masato- You don't just meet and run, my dear, that's callous, coarse, and crass!
Tweedles- Society has set the rules by which we all must play.
Ren- So listen while we spell them out,
Masato- And you'll be distingué.

As the music began to pick up, Ren and Masato began a serpentine path of shaking hands with Syo in the middle, the blonde meeting one of the two Tweedles every other handshake.

Tweedles- Say: "How do you do?" and shake hands, shake hands, shake hands,
"How do you do?" and shake hands, state your name and business
Syo- Well, that's just...
Masato- Ah, ah, ah...
Syo- *sigh* How do you do?
Ren- Excellent, excellent. And...
Syo offers a hand
Tweedles- Perfect!

"If manners could prevail,
Syo- And you do not act like a pig!
Tweedles- *snort, snort*
The problems that the world presents might not seem quite so big.
Syo- A bow or curtsy (more or less) can brighten up the day,
And if you know what fork to use...
Tweedles- Then you are on your way!
All- Say: "How do you do?" and shake hands,
Syo- Shake hands,
Tweedles- Shake hands,
All- "How do you do?" and shake hands, state your name and business."

Syo laughed as the song came to a close, curtsying to his friends who bowed in response, "Thanks for the lesson!" Syo called back to the two; he, Cecil, and Natsuki already resuming their journey. "Don't mention it!" Ren shouted, "Take care!" Masato exclaimed, "And watch out for the Queen of Hearts!" the Tweedles yelled, voices just barely coherent as they drifted from the party's sight. With one final wave, Syo turned his eyes back in the direction they were headed, "Seriously, who is the Queen of Hearts?" he thought as he took hold of Natsuki and Cecil's hands.
